I did a painting of a fox mask, because I've always liked it growing up in Japan, and someone told me it reminded her of this Japanese movie called "Hotarubi no Mori e (蛍火の杜へ). I got curious and watched it, which was very very emotionally painful What a beautiful film. It captured the nostalgia I feel about growing up in Japan so well too. Highly recommended.
I must say this illustration is magnificent! Even if I have not watched the film, I can see it must be interesting if it is anything like your drawing!
Omg this is stunning, the atmosphere is beautiful ♥
Thank you It's inspired from a very bitter sweet moment in the movie.
No probs, oh really? That's cool because I think you definitely captured that well, with the glowing bubbles and the dark background
Your painting is amazing! I love the light!
Thanks! That's great because light was my focus on this piece
A definite prepossesing sight. Absolutley stunnning.
This is beautiful! This movie was so amazing and I cried while watching it.
I nearly pulled my hair out screaming "NOOOOOOOOO" in this scene, and cried so hard. When he says "come here" with that big smile. Aaaaaawwwwww I'm crying again.
I am too! And the hints that something was going to happen, Gin giving Hotaru his mask, it was even sadder. A bittersweet story, but in the end Gin was able to love Hotaru and finally hold her in his arms. It was worth it to him to be able to do that.
Why has this only so few views? It's beautiful! The whole picture looks soft and dreamy while at the same time focused on the character. It gives me this mystical feeling. Definitely a new favorite.
Aww thanks It's based on a Japanese movie that will emotionally destroy you.
Wow looks cool!
